This
afternoon on-line workshop will run from 1:30pm UK time to 4:30pm with Sarah-Linda Johnson and your hosts, the directors from Hite.
"Mindfulness
is a way of attending to the ‘inner’ as well as the ‘outer’ experience with friendliness and compassion. It is a way of gently turning up the volume on noticing – noticing what is happening and how we are reacting to what is happening. In this way, we begin to see that end-gaining happens not just when we are doing, but also when we are thinking and feeling.
This workshop is a chance for us to explore and inquire together. You will be guided through 3 mindfulness practices - bodyscan, sitting and mindful movement (or walking practice), and so seeing how it is to bring a kindly attention to all of our experience. The practices themselves encourage a willingness to notice how things actually are, not just how we think things are. They invite a gentle grounding and steadying of attention and a letting go of the desire to try to fix or change the things we don’t like.
There will also be time for some informal, friendly sharing and discussion around what was noticed and how it was to pay attention in this deliberate yet gentle way. What are we learning? What can we take away? How might mindfulness support us in our daily living or in our teaching?
Practices will include sitting and lying down, so do have whatever you might need nearby in order to be comfortable (some water to drink, a blanket or some layers in case you feel cold, a cushion, yoga mat, some books)."
